Youth

The Youth Group consists of middle school and senior high students who meet once a week on Wednseday nights at 6:30 for pizza and fellowship. During these meetings, events which the youth will lead and participate in are planned. Examples of this include an annual Youth Service, spaghetti suppers, pancake suppers, lock-ins, helping at the Lord's Food Pantry, and various other mission works. Also during these meetings there are times of prayer and also adult led spiritual activities and discussions. The youth group has also created their own recreation center in the basement of the church and many of our meetings and activities are held there.

The youth of the church play a very active role and are always involved in various projects. The youth group has made major improvements on the church itself and tries to plan a project each year to better the church. Past projects have included remodeling the acolyte room, building a wall and closet in the nursery, building two decks outside of the fellowship hall and restaining hardwood floors throughout the church. Whether it is raking leaves to raise money for mission trips, participating in Relay for Life, or improving the church, the youth group always manages to stay busy.

Every summer the youth group particiaptes in a mission trip through the United Methodist Relief Center. They have traveled to Charleston, SC where past worksites have included repairing roofs, putting in windows, painting drywall, rebuidling floors, and building decks. These mission trips are designed not only to teach the youth how to do these tasks, but also the spiritual importance of helping those in need. In the past the youth group has worked with St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Reidsville. Pictures and information about previous mission trips can be found here
