Pastoral Care

In the area of pastoral care, Epiphany seems to be totally involved. If something comes up that needs attention, The Pastoral Care Commission is there to do whatever is needed. If someone is in the hospital, they are visited and often communion is taken. If there is a crisis the church is there, if there is an opportunity for special joy the ministers of the church (The lay and clergy) are there – food, flowers, sitting, praying, visiting, clothing, housing, praying, sewing and quilting. Birth of children, weddings, death, home bound and nursing home – Epiphany is there.

People at Epiphany like to cook for others, sew for others, be for others. Someone once asked if being a Christian meant they would have to die for someone. Our answer is yes, we may have to die to our own wants and desires in order to care for someone else.

We pride ourselves in caring for the sick, housing the homeless, praying for the sick, visiting the lonely, feeding the hungry and writing to those who could use a bit of cheer in their lives. Each such event is a sermon in itself and the Gospel is clear that in doing this you have been visiting with Jesus. In the words of St. Francis, “Preach the Gospel at all times… if necessary use words.

At Epiphany we do our best to make sure that all ministries are open to all people and do our best to support and assist each other in caring them out.
